The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has officially declared the Class 12 (Intermediate) results for 2026 today, March 23, at 1:30 PM IST. Education Minister Sunil Kumar announced the results during a press conference at the BSEB headquarters located at Patna.
This year, the board recorded an impressive pass percentage of 85.19%, with girls outperforming boys. Girls achieved a pass rate of 86.23%, compared to 84.09% for boys. A total of 1,317,846 students participated across all three streams: Science, Commerce, and Arts.
Students can access their results through several official websites, including results.biharboardonline.com, interbiharboard.com, and bsebexam.com. Due to anticipated high traffic on these sites, students are advised to be patient when checking their results, which can also be obtained via SMS by sending "BIHAR12 " to 56263.
The BSEB has a tradition of ensuring transparency and credibility during the examination process. This year, the board conducted interviews with potential toppers to verify their results. BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor confirmed that the answer sheets were rechecked by a team of experts at the Patna headquarters.
Examinations were conducted from February 2 to February 13, 2026, across various centers, with students sitting for their papers during two shifts: morning from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM and afternoon from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Students were required to score a minimum of 33% marks to pass each subject.
Among the successful candidates, a total of 516,928 students achieved first division, 511,744 secured second division, and 82,425 passed with third division. The highest marks were secured by Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur, who topped the Science stream with 96.20% (481 marks). Nishu Kumari from Gaya topped the Arts stream with 95.8%, and Aditi Kumari led the Commerce stream with 480 marks.
Notably, 26 students were recognized for their outstanding performance, with 19 of them being girls. This trend reflects a growing academic excellence among female students across all faculties. Stream-wise performance showed that girls excelled particularly well: 84.53% of girls passed the Arts stream, compared to 79.78% of boys; 94.31% of girls passed Commerce, against 92.45% for boys; and 88.79% of girls passed Science, slightly higher than the 86.56% of boys.
The Bihar government has announced attractive rewards for the top rankers to encourage academic excellence. The first-place student will receive ₹2 lakh, a laptop, and a Kindle e-reader. The second and third place holders will receive ₹1.5 lakh and ₹1 lakh, respectively, along with similar prizes.
Students who are not satisfied with their results will have the opportunity to apply for scrutiny or re-evaluation, with details to be provided soon. For those who did not pass one or more subjects, compartment exams will be available, allowing them to improve their scores without losing an academic year.
Bihar Board has consistently maintained a fast evaluation and result declaration process, often releasing Intermediate results by March, well ahead of many other state boards. This year’s results were eagerly awaited, especially since BSEB is known for being the first board to announce results annually.
