Mitchell Marsh became the fourth batter for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to score over 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Sunday.

Driving the news: In the match against CSK, LSG batted first and started strongly, putting bowlers under pressure immediately. Josh Inglis set the tone by scoring 16 runs off the opening over, bowled by left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein.

They passed the 50-run mark in the fourth over, marking their joint-fastest team fifty in IPL history.

“I probably haven’t got going. I think you can maybe search a little bit too much at times,” Marsh told Reuters.
He acknowledged that he is “probably one or two boundaries away from really getting going.”
The big picture: Lucknow is in danger of missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year, but Marsh insists there’s still time for a turnaround.
“It’s a long tournament and we’ve got great belief that we can challenge the best teams in the competition,” he said.

He played a key role in helping Perth Scorchers win the Big Bash League in January.
